Justin Keeps Moving Forward

​For Justin, success didn’t come on the first try. It came from not giving up.

Justin has been working toward his Massachusetts driver’s permit through neba’s On Our Way program since July 2024. It’s a goal that matters to him. He wants to eventually pass his road test and earn his driver’s license.
Getting there took perseverance.

Justin took the Massachusetts driver’s permit test twice and didn’t pass. After the second attempt, he was understandably discouraged. Rather than continuing to focus on the permit, Justin decided to take a few weeks to concentrate on another goal he was working toward through On Our Way: improving his money and financial literacy skills.

Then he came back to the permit.

With support from On Our Way, Justin resumed studying and worked on the areas that had been challenging for him. His support team provided him with links and logins to online study resources, and Justin took an active role in his own preparation. He studied on his own time, outside of his regular sessions.

One tool that made a real difference was an individualized Kahoot study guide created specifically for Justin called “Justin’s Driver Permit Study Guide.”

After each practice test, Justin and his Employment Consultant reviewed the questions and answers together. Questions he missed were discussed thoroughly and then added to his personal study guide. Related pictures were included to make the material more engaging and provide visual support.

Little by little, Justin built his knowledge and confidence.

On August 19, 2026, Justin passed his Massachusetts driver’s permit test.
He was understandably proud of himself. After two unsuccessful attempts, passing the test was more than a good result—it was proof of what he could accomplish when he stayed with a goal, learned from setbacks, and kept working.

Justin is also building his independence in other areas of his life. He has been working at Walgreens since October 2025 while continuing to work toward his personal goals through On Our Way.
