A Message of Appreciation During Direct Support Professional Recognition Week

During Direct Support Professional (DSP) Recognition Week, Executive Director Jeannine Pavlak shares her appreciation for neba’s direct support professionals and the entire team.
Good morning, everyone,

As we celebrate DSP Week, I want to take a moment to recognize all of you and say thank you for the incredible work you do every day.

What you do matters. Every day, you are helping people build confidence, discover their strengths, become more independent, and achieve goals that are important to them. Sometimes the progress is big and easy to see, and sometimes it happens in small moments—but every one of those moments makes a difference.

I know this work isn't always easy. It takes patience, flexibility, creativity, compassion, and a willingness to keep showing up, even on the challenging days. I see that commitment throughout neba, and I am incredibly grateful for it.

While DSP Week is specifically a time to recognize the important work of our direct support professionals, I also want to recognize that it takes our entire team working together to make what we do possible. Whether you are providing direct support, developing employment opportunities, building relationships in the community, supporting our staff, or working behind the scenes, you are an important part of our mission and our success.

Most importantly, thank you for believing in the people we serve. Thank you for seeing their abilities, encouraging them when things are difficult, celebrating their successes, and helping create opportunities for them to have meaningful employment and greater independence.

I hope you take some time this week to reflect on and recognize the difference you make. Your work is important, it is appreciated, and it changes lives.

I am very proud of our team and incredibly thankful to have such a dedicated group of people doing this work together.

Happy DSP Week and thank you for everything you do!

With gratitude,
Jeannine Pavlak
